Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) support economic growth by connecting the NHS to industry for the benefit of patients, to help build successful businesses and to help the UK economy grow.
The AHSN Network brings together industry partners with the health and social care sectors, speeding up the development and uptake of innovation. All fifteen of the individual AHSNs can help with aspects of this process, by providing support directly or drawing upon the expertise of partner organisations.
In particular, many of the AHSNs can support industry partners through The Innovation Pathway, which is a national initiative providing a unique opportunity for industry to access bespoke services in a seamless fashion, covering the entire lifecycle of innovation from conception of an idea, to potential funding via the SBRI Healthcare and other programmes, and through to its eventual adoption and realisation of commercial success.
There are fifteen AHSNs across England which are uniquely placed to identify and spread innovation at pace and scale, by driving the adoption and dissemination of new technologies and services across large populations. The sharing of best practice is a key feature of the operation of the AHSNs, with collaborative working being critical to their success, resulting in a truly collective impact.
