Find out what our Health Innovation Network team has been up to recently, and some events we’ve taken part in or led.
Dementia I-statements project: Dr Hugo de Waal, the Health Innovation Network’s (HIN) Clinical Director for Dementia, and Rebecca Jarvis, Programme Director for Alcohol, Dementia and Patient Experience, represented the Health Innovation Network at the London Dementia Commissioners Network, on 4 August. They presented their work on using the dementia I-statements as a way of seeking feedback from people with dementia on support services. There was some encouraging feedback from the group, who thought the tool would help them move towards outcome-based commissioning.
Healthier You Diabetes Prevention Programme: The programme is now live across south London and the NHS Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group is the first CCG to launch this in London. Healthier You is a nine-month behaviour change programme helping local people vulnerable to developing Type 2 diabetes significantly reduce their risk. Referrals are also beginning to flow for Southwark, Bromley, Greenwich, Wandsworth and Lewisham CCGs, with programmes starting in August and September 2016. Find out more about the Healthier You south London programme at provider Reed Momenta’s website here.
Implementation Science meeting: On 25 July, Dr Amanda Buttery, Dementia Innovation Fellow at the HIN, and Kathy Tyler, Director of the South West London System and Director of Capacity Building for the HIN, represented the Health Innovation Network at the Implementation Science meeting hosted by King’s College London Centre for Implementation Science/ CLAHRC South London, which featured a presentation by Dr Brian Mittman. The meeting highlighted the importance of a systematic and considered approach to healthcare implementations, to achieve consistent results.
