Data visualisation products are produced to help ‘tell the story’ and give a clear visual representation of data. They are primarily created by the Information Service using tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Excel.
South London Demographics
The Informatics service have utilised the data visualisation software Tableau to create an interactive dashboard to visually show a number of South London statistics, these include: population size, GP list size, and the age breakdown of the population. This example of data visualisations produced by the Information Service using Tableau are shown below:
South London obesity metrics
This work shows selected data items from Public Health England and was inspired from NHS Englands’s Obesity Data Challenge.
The data is shown at Local Authority and Electoral Ward level. Two measures (measure 1 and measure 2) can be selected to show the relationship between the two data sets. Measure 1 will also show any geographical pattern on the map. The dashboard also illustrates the variation within each Local Authority for both measures, which can enable CCGs and Local Authorities to make more informed decisions on intervention and resource allocation.
The area covered is the 12 boroughs of South London. These are: Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Kingston, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Richmond, Southwark, Sutton and Wandsworth.
