Welcome to the June edition of Partners with People

I’m really pleased to be back after a break and want to extend a big thank you to Kate and Kristina for their fantastic work leading involvement over the past year. Their dedication has kept our focus on meaningfully involving people and communities front and centre at the HIN South London.

At the HIN this month, we are excited to share that we’ve recently welcomed two new Lived Experience Partners, Kreena and Dale. Their insights and experiences will bring fresh perspectives to our work. Look out for a proper introduction to them in the next issue!

If you have any updates or opportunities you’d like to share in a future edition, please do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you. Also, if you find this newsletter useful, please feel free to share it with your networks to help us grow our community.

News from the HIN

Vitacam and championing co-design

In this case study, Moyeen Ahmad, the founder of Vitacam (a smartphone app that measures vital signs such as respiratory rate and heart rate), reflects on how the DigitalHealth.London Leap programme helped to facilitate involvement, ensuring people with lived experience of chronic conditions were at the heart of their usability study with London South Bank University.

HIN South London Insights Team win the Public Involvement and community engagement (PICE) award at the European Implementation Event (EIE2025)

The team were recognised for their work providing evaluation support of the Race Health Observatory’s (RHO) Learning and Action Network (LAN) programme. The RHO LAN delivers an anti-racism quality improvement approach to address health inequalities and improve outcomes for the global majority of service users accessing maternity and neonatal services across England. You can read more about the RHO LAN online here.

The European Implementation Event conference brings together people from around the world who work to improve health and social care by using research and evidence. We are proud that this important work received recognition at this prestigious event!

June is Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month, and we are delighted to share our newly published report

The HIN convened a Myasthenia Gravis Transformation Network to develop a roadmap of recommendations that could be used to improve the care for people living with myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune condition that causes skeletal muscle weakness).

The report offers practical suggestions that can be taken at both the practitioner and system levels. The Network was made up of mostly people with lived experience, and some clinicians and colleagues from the voluntary sector. We are immensely grateful to our Network members for their contributions to this work. We hope this work helps to bring about change and an improvement in the experiences and outcomes for everyone affected by myasthenia gravis.
