This month we shine our company spotlight on Cineon, and hear from company founder Toby de Burgh.
Cineon is developing iSAVE, a project designed to support patients who experience anxiety when receiving medical treatment by using virtual exposure to enhance service access. Toby gives some advice to other innovators and explains how iSAVE could help tackle inequalities in mental health.

Addressing health inequalities in XR solutions

We're delighted to offer a set of free learning resources designed to help mental health innovators working in the extended reality space navigate some of the challenges associated with transitioning their concepts and ideas into products and interventions.
We have published three sets of on-demand learning resources, which cover Medical Regulation (with Hardian Health), Lived experience involvement (with MQ Mental Health Research), and Research and clinical evidence (with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London).
There will be further modules coming in due course, and we will share details of those in forthcoming issues of this newsletter.

DCMS Create Growth Programme Competition 4
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has announced an £8 million funding competition for UK registered micro, small and medium enterprises in the creative sector, which will provide a package of targeted support to high-growth creative businesses to scale, build investor networks and reach their potential.

The competition closes at 11 am on Thursday, 29 May.
The UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme
This government-backed initiative has been set up to help UK tech firms grow in the Asia Pacific region, de-risking and accelerating the sector's growth. The Programme provides support for UK firms to expand in 11 APAC markets: Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.

Establishing Regulatory Clarity for XR: Current Frameworks and Future Directions
In the third Mindset Roundtable discussion titled Regulation of extended reality (XR) in mental health, a wide range of stakeholders came together to establish where XR technology can be considered under existing regulatory pathways, what unique aspects of XR require further investigation for future regulation, and where additional clarity can be bought to the sector.
