It has been an exciting year for the Mindset-XR Innovator Support Programme.

We welcomed a new cohort of organisations who were successful in winning funding in Round 3 of Innovate UK’s Mindset XR Programme and were delighted to see some familiar faces among the winners - some of whom have previously succeeded in Rounds 1 and 2 - alongside innovators joining the Mindset community for the first time.

We travelled across the UK in the Autumn for our Mindset-XR roadshow events and had stimulating conversations with clinicians, commissioners, people with lived experience and many others who were interested in the possibilities of using immersive tech to offer real solutions to respond to our country’s growing mental health needs.

We also joined in with celebrating the successes of our innovators, with Play Well for Life being shortlisted in the Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People category in the prestigious HSJ Awards and Tend VR’s mindfulness app receiving mainstream media coverage on the BBC

We have held roundtables and delivered webinars on diverse subjects such as an Introduction to Health Economics and Navigating NHS Readiness, and you can find all of our resources on our dedicated web page

This was all possible due to the support of all our partners, the members of the Advisory Board and our innovators, and of course, all of you who actively engage through this newsletter and the implementation of innovative solutions in your organisations. Thank you to everyone who has engaged with us in 2025.

As we come to that time of year that can be both joyful but also difficult for people – let us keep looking out for each other and working hard to bring innovative solutions to those in need.

We wish you all a happy and peaceful festive season.

Dr Amanda Begley.

Last month, the BMJ Digital Health and Innovation Community Conference brought together leading voices in healthcare innovation. Among the attendees were Aileen Jackson, Head of Mental Health at the Health Innovation Network South London, representatives from Innovate UK, and several innovators from the Mindset-XR programme.

In this month's blog, Aileen explores the key themes from the day and reflects on how people, systems, and culture all have an important part to play in driving digital transformation in health and care.
This month our company spotlight is on Little Beginnings.

Company founder Dr Fin Williams tells us about their mission to make every smartphone a mental health guardian using Rumii, a web app and platform.

Rumii passively analyses smartphone data on behaviours, habits, and relationship to phones to detect signs of mental health decline. When the algorithm detects changes in these patterns, it responds with supportive nudges and conversational AI that helps guide behavioural change.
