Welcome to November's Partners with People newsletter!
This summer, we were thrilled to welcome two new Lived Experience Partners to the team – Kreena and Dale. They’ve already made a huge impact, working across all our teams and connecting with external partners to shape more inclusive, responsive health innovation.
On her role, Kreena shared:
"We know that innovation is desperately needed, and we know that putting lived experience at the heart of our work can transform the way we serve, treat and interact with patients. I’ve had roles that have brought about change in support, charity, policy and government. Continuing that work and bringing the same impact to our health services was an opportunity not to be missed, and I am very humbled and grateful to be here."
Dale also spoke about why they were attracted to the role:
"This role stood out to me as one that would allow me to engage in a wide range of research projects in a way that I had never come across before. As someone who has done a lot of research, community engagement and activism, this felt like a natural continuation and evolution of my past experiences. I’m also really happy that the HIN is an organisation that values and respects lived experience knowledge, as that has always been something I have championed in all the work I do."
We’re excited about the energy and insight Kreena and Dale bring to our work. If you’d like to collaborate or find out more about their roles, please do get in touch.

South east London: Feedback sessions about improving communication between GP doctors and hospital specialists
The HIN, working with South East London ICB are looking for people who live in Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark to attend a 1-hour feedback session to check our understanding of the challenges patients face when they move between the GP and hospital care, and vice versa.
The aim is to help us understand what works well and where we can make things better. This session takes place on Tuesday, 18 November and Wednesday, 19 November. For more information and to register your interest, please view the poster and complete the survey.

Survey – HIN South London: Martha’s Rule Awareness Survey for Sickle Cell Disorder
This survey aims to collect information on how Martha’s Rule is working for people living with Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD). People living with SCD are at a high risk of acute deterioration, and we think being aware of Martha's Rule BEFORE being admitted to the hospital may help keep patients safe. By answering this short survey, you can help test our assumptions.

Focus group – Signatur Biosciences: Breast Cancer Testing and Treatment Decisions
Signatur Biosciences, an Imperial College spinout with the mission to make precision diagnostics more accessible, is developing a new test to help predict whether breast cancer might come back after treatment. This test could also help doctors decide whether chemotherapy is needed. It's designed to be a faster, more affordable alternative to an existing test (OncotypeDX) and uses the same type of gene information.
They are looking to speak with people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to understand views on this new test. They are running two small focus groups to help them make sure the test meets the real needs of patients. (each lasting about 2–2.5 hours): one in person at Imperial College London, the other virtual. Participants will be compensated with £75 (vouchers or bank transfer)
If you're interested or would like more information, please contact: patients@signatur.bio
