New health economist joins HIN south London to drive evidence-based innovation
December 1, 2025The Health Innovation Network (HIN) South London has recently welcomed additional health economics experience to its evaluation and informatics team.
Dr Siddesh Shetty, a medically trained health economist, joins the HIN from King’s College London. He brings nearly a decade of experience in health economics research and clinical care, across the UK and internationally, including work with the Indian Council of Medical Research. His skills include conducting economic evaluations alongside trials, building decision models, analysing datasets, and performing primary costing. He is passionate about assessing interventions that offer ‘value for money’ to the NHS.
Siddesh has contributed to a diverse portfolio of research, including:
- Maternal and neonatal health: Evaluated the cost-effectiveness of a risk detection algorithm for preventing pre-eclampsia in a trial involving over 8,000 women. Published the protocol in Pregancy Hypertension; results submitted to The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women’s Health.
- Early value assessment: Led early economic assessment for a care pathway promoting safe vaginal births for breech presentations; published in Value in Health.
- Multinational device trial: Conducted economic evaluation for a trial across the UK, Australia and New Zealand on high-flow nasal therapy post-cardiac surgery. Published protocol in Plos One, presented at the Critical Care Reviews Meeting; results submitted to JAMA.
- Primary care data analysis: Investigated inequalities in healthcare utilisation and costs among patients with multimorbidity using Lambeth DataNet; findings published in BJGP Open.
- Postpartum haemorrhage: Built a decision model to evaluate uterine balloon tamponade in the India’s public health system; published in Plos One and informed WHO recommendations.
Siddesh’s move to HIN reflects his commitment to bridging economics research and implementation.

Siddesh joins colleagues Dr Anna Buylova and Becca Naylor in the health economics team at the HIN, which sits in the Insights and Evaluation team alongside data scientists and analysts.
