DigitalHealth.London Business Support for London 2023-2025

The challenge
Between 2016 and 2023, the organisation developed and delivered an award-winning digital health Accelerator, aimed at supporting the adoption of high potential digital health companies across health and social care in London.
While delivering the Accelerator, it was identified that there was a need for support for earlier stage companies. There was also demand for the facilitation of collaborations between academics, digital health companies and the NHS.
The solution
The DigitalHealth.London Business Support for London programme was delivered from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2025. It aimed to leverage the expertise and extensive network of DigitalHealth.London to facilitate collaboration between businesses, the NHS and academia.
This ambitious pan-London initiative included six programmes of support: the flagship Accelerator; Launchpad; Evidence Generation Bootcamp; Leap; Net Zero; and Social Enterprises.
It was designed to support high potential companies and founders in the digital health sector, ensuring London benefited from seven aims:
- Creation of high-value jobs and economic growth
- Enhanced collaboration between businesses, the NHS, and academia
- Increased investment in research and development
- Strengthened local entrepreneurial ecosystems
- Support for diverse founders and social entrepreneurs
- Development and adoption of innovative digital health products and services

RADIANT-CERSI Innovator Support programme

The challenge
Software as Medical Device (SaMD) and AI as Medical Device (AIaMD) for healthcare are developing at such a rate that regulation is struggling to keep up. As this technology reshapes healthcare, from diagnostics to decision support, the rules around how to safely develop, validate and monitor these tools can be difficult to navigate.
The Innovate-UK funded RADIANT-CERSI (Centre of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation in Transformative Digital Health and AI) recognised this frustration, working in partnership with MHRA, NHS and academia. It exists to bridge the gap between cutting-edge healthcare technology and the complex world of regulation, so innovation and safety can go hand-in-hand.
The solution
The RADIANT-CERSI Innovator Support Programme was designed to help UK digital health companies navigate complex medical device regulation with confidence. Funded by Innovate UK in partnership with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the Office for Life Sciences and the Medical Research Council, the programme addressed regulatory uncertainty that can delay innovation reaching patients.
Over nine weeks, 68 companies received more than 1,300 hours of expert-led support. Sessions covered foundation topics across the full regulatory journey, including intended use and device classification, quality management, and NHS governance and international standards.
Companies gained the confidence to navigate the regulatory landscape, plan evidence generation earlier in development and engage with regulators in a more informed way. Perhaps most importantly, companies that participated left feeling connected with peers, as well as a part of the RADIANT-CERSI Network.
