In 2018, one of the start-ups included was Infinity Health, a secure collaboration and task management solution that transforms how healthcare professionals coordinate activity and share critical information. The company consists of clinicians, designers, and software developers addressing workflow and communication challenges.

hours saved: improving patient flow in the Emergency Department through portering.

The Chief Information Officer at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH NHS Trust), Sonia Patel, contacted the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator asking for recommendations as part of Northwick Park Hospital’s “Let’s Get Digital” programme. The DigitalHealth.London Accelerator put Infinity Health forward from the programme and it was subsequently selected to help transform the coordination of patient transfers to improve clinical efficiency and patient experience.

Infinity Health’s ePortering solution works by enabling staff to request a collection or patient transfer using secure mobile devices and the hospital porters accept and share activity in real-time. The average time to complete a request has been reduced by six minutes, which translates to a saving of over 10,000 hours of staff and patients’ time each year.

After the successful introduction from the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, Infinity Health was tested and then implemented at Northwick Park Hospital (part of the LNWH NSH Trust) in October 2018. Following an eight-week evaluation, Infinity Health is now standard operating procedure at the Hospital and is used to coordinate over 100,000 transfer requests per year.

Infinity Health is now looking to scale its ePortering innovation to trusts outside London. It is working with other members of the AHSN Network on the adoption and spread of this innovation. DigitalHealth.London Accelerator continues to support the growth of Infinity Health by making recommendations and connections between Infinity Health and NHS organisations, where appropriate.
