AF Awareness Raising
Our AF work is part of a national programme to reduce the number of AF related strokes and as such raising public awareness of the risk of AF and offering free pulse rhythm checks is essential. During Heart Rhythm Week (5-11 June 2017) the pan-London AF programme ran a series of events providing free 30 second pulse checks for the general public. NHS staff demonstrated to over a thousand Londoners how they can check the rhythm of their pulse manually and recorded this using a simple device (Kardia AliveCor) attached to a smartphone. Similar events are planned for the future.
