Behavioural Insights Research Project: Innovating in catheter practice in the hospital and community

This report aims to inspire action and highlights key challenges and opportunities to improve and encourage catheter checking

We have worked collaboratively with Revealing Reality and H+ K Strategies to successfully complete the exploratory phase of our Behavioural Insights Research Project into reducing Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) in hospitals and the community setting. This report, the first publication from the project, highlights key challenges and opportunities in the area, with a view to encouraging catheter checking behaviours and improving catheter care.

The ideas detailed in this report can be used as a starting point to support you to reduce CAUTI rates in your setting, be that community or hospital.

Our next phase of work on this project will involve testing a specific bundle of interventions with our evaluation sites.

We're here to help

If you would like to be the first to hear more about the next phase of this project, or have a project that would benefit from a Behavioural Insights approach, we’d love to know.
