Covid-19: Identifying the needs of Mental Health Populations

NHSx wanted to understand the mental health needs of specific populations and the digital interventions that were available. The populations were children under 13 years, people experiencing mental health crisis, perinatal and/or serious mental illness.

Lockdown during the pandemic led to many appointments being cancelled and there were concerns that people being seen by mental health services could be left without support. Digital interventions offer an opportunity to support people without the need for face to face appointments.

Health Innovation Network supported the NHS to identify the mental health needs of specific population groups in response to Covid-19. The mental health team engaged with more than 600 organisations across England during April and May 2020.
