Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Competency Framework and Implementation Resources

The London Pulmonary Rehabilitation Competency Framework was created by the London Respiratory Clinical Network (LRCN) to develop and grow a skilled and sustainable pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) workforce for the London region.

The key aims of the Framework are to:

• Set out the competencies needed to deliver a high-quality pulmonary rehabilitation service

• Help staff to identify and develop the competencies needed to deliver a high-quality pulmonary rehabilitation resource

The London Respiratory Clinical Network and Health Innovation South London have created a range of resources to sit alongside the competency framework, which you can access below:

  • Personalised record

Use this survey to access a bespoke personal competency record. For instructions on how to use the individual competency records, access additional guidance here.

  • Training modules (coming soon)

The training modules have been created to focus on the topics that are not currently offered in other external training courses. Completing the training will allow you to develop certain key competencies – your bespoke competency record will contain more information about which competencies are covered in the training.

The first training module will become available by November 2024, focused on assessing exercise capacity and muscle strength according to guidelines. A further module on individualised exercise prescription and programming will be released before the end of 2024.
