Mindset-XR Innovation Support Programme
Overview
Innovate UK’s £20 million Mindset programme is helping to catalyse the growth of immersive digital mental health solutions in the UK. By funding projects that develop therapeutic interventions, Mindset is establishing a supportive ecosystem to facilitate the market entry of these innovations.
Through fostering collaboration between the immersive technology sector and mental health providers, Mindset aims to accelerate treatment by leveraging immersive digital therapies to offer faster and more accessible support for individuals with mental health concerns.
Lord Patrick Vallance, Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation said: “These projects are shining examples of how innovation can transform people’s quality of life, by helping those with severe mental health conditions take on everyday tasks that can otherwise feel impossible.”
The Innovate UK’s Mindset-XR Innovation Support Programme
As part of the overall Mindset Programme, the HIN South London is working with Innovate UK to help Mindset projects develop their innovation toward market readiness.
Together, we aim to facilitate the broader adoption of immersive digital mental health therapeutics alongside traditional approaches to care.
We assist both large-scale industrial research and smaller feasibility projects by
- Creating a networking and information sharing platform for potential collaborators.
- Providing advice and expert support to existing and future competition applicants.
- Delivering a programme of outreach and engagement activities to cover the whole of the UK, including the devolved administrations.
- Facilitating knowledge exchange and providing tailored support for Mindset projects.
- Delivering a learning package on a range of topics that address key challenges and barriers to innovation development and adoption.
- Creating the conditions for change through industry-wide and health system-wide roundtables.
We are currently providing support to innovators, from Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3 of the programme, assisting them through feasibility testing and the journey toward commercialisation.

Holo Log, SyncVR, and EcoGPX/Intercultural Roots
The challenge
Innovators on the Mindset-XR Innovation Support Programme face a unique set of hurdles from navigating complex regulatory pathways to proving the real-world value of their solutions.
To make a meaningful impact and move toward commercial success, they needed clarity on compliance requirements, stronger partnerships, routes to sustainable funding, and opportunities to test and validate their ideas in realistic settings.
The programme worked to uncover these specific challenges so innovators could progress with confidence from early concept through to scalable, market ready products.
Solution
With tailored, hands-on support provided to more than 60 projects, our work enabled innovators to progress with greater clarity and confidence.
The experiences of Holo-Log, SyncVR, and EcoGPX / Intercultural Roots demonstrate the impact of that support:
Holo-Log
Connected them with clinical partners, regulatory experts, and NHS ecosystems while creating opportunities to showcase their prototype and gain critical early feedback.
SyncVR
Supported their journey to secure funding and plugged them into a vibrant, collaborative community of mental health innovators.
EcoGPX/Intercultural Roots
Facilitated key introductions, provided regulatory clarity through Hardian Health, and enabled new NHS relationships via the Mindset XR roadshows.
